The impact that CUMALI has on the houseless and homeless population in downtown Chicago

The CUMALI team is made up of volunteers who want to help those who are not as fortunate as the rest of us. We take turns on Monday nights to load up our cars with 60-70 hot meals, along with a jug of lemonade in the summer (or hot cocoa in the winter), a few cases of water bottles, a bag of socks, and some additional items depending on the season.

In the winter we go out with a selection of coats, hats, gloves, handwarmers, blankets and sleeping bags. In the summer it’s shirts, sweatshirts, underwear, bags and other items.

We listen to those we serve and try to support them as much as possible with special requests or ideas for items that we think others could benefit from.

Unlike other organizations, CUMALI is focused on serving the homeless who live on the streets in the Lower Wacker area, and congregate around Union Station. Because of our regular schedule and routes, we are very cost-effective in delivering on our mission to serve those where they live.

We welcome donations, as it is the fuel that powers our mission going.
