CUMALI’s services are aimed primarily at chronically homeless individuals living on the streets in and around downtown Chicago. Initially, we will focus on potential clients who appear receptive to receiving services, and have a high probability of success after CUMALI’s interventions, but as resources grow, and CUMALI forms a reputation among the homeless community, the target population will expand to include individuals whose likelihood of success is low without intensive, sustained intervention.
Locations of Operation
CUMALI travels to three main areas for its outreach work: The corner of Clark Street and Division Street on the Near North Side; various points along Lower Wacker Drive in the Loop; and Union Station at 300 S Canal Street, also in the Loop. CUMALI has a temporary meeting space for management and development meetings at the Episcopal Church of Our Saviour at 530 W Fullerton Pkwy in Lincoln Park.
Facilities of Operation
During outreach trips, CUMALI operates out of a vehicle stocked with food, drinks and various other supplies. The vehicle can hold approximately five outreach workers plus supplies. As CUMALI’s resources increase we plan to purchase a larger vehicle, with the ability to transport more personnel or clients, and to store more supplies.
